A song to sing
A note to be played
A line yet written
A story to be told
No verse begun
Where’s the storm
Those who brave the rugged coast of Big Sur
Will enjoy the thrill of the crashing surf
Onto and through the rocks
The colorful stone and sand
Only a few will find
If you dare to explore
The rugged California coast
At the end of the trail busy working to capture the beauty of the forest.
Along came a sudden stinging sensation on the side of my leg.
It quickly went away so I returned to the task at hand.
A few minutes later another sting.
Now this, is starting to get my attention.
I reached for the bug spray in my bag
and sprayed my exposed skin.
It only worked a few minutes when another sting.
Another spray on the skin now that should due the trick. Not to be outdone by a few insects,
I continued to paint.
Yet another sting this time I had to pay attention to
what was trying to get my attention.
Just a small long black fly and I swatted it away.
Oh, It would not be received as I had intended.
More troops arrived now I was surrounded.
What now? Well this is my last resort.
I just I started spraying the bugs instead of me.
Well, What can I say it was the last resort.
I quickly finished and escaped to the car.
Wetlands in winter. As a meandering stream flows through to the bay.
A heron quietly waits for a fish to swim downstream.
Share with family and friends. A time to be thankful for your blessings.
We arrived, and the sign read
“Only Permitted Vehicles allowed”
In the distance you can see the hurricane transforming the skyline over Destin. Painted high above a dune lake in Sandestin. Shielded by the building and safe from the storm. All sound is drowned by the wind. Waves crashing against the shore high above the dunes. Gulf water breaking free to find a path into the lake.
On Saturday October 13th 2012 at Grayton Beach view artists painting the outdoors. Dune lakes are unique because they are a permanent body of water found in the coastal areas of Northwest Florida. A dune lake contains a mixture of fresh water and salt water from the gulf.
Summer is leaving but the colors of the gulf remain. A reminder of how wonderful it is to live on the gulf coast.
Knowledge is the base
To lead you to the spot
Does not exist
Is not a chore
Where it leads
Is it’s rewards
On top of the Indian temple mound
The sound of leaves
Falling to the ground
Quietly an artist paints
Unseen by those around
Wind swept clouds
Wild flowers in the sand
Feel the breeze against your skin
Clouds to shade
From the heat of day
To keep you cool
Warm is the morning
Dark skies over-head
Cool breeze quite nice
Will the clouds break
To blue skies ahead
Positive is the spice
You sprinkle on life
When uncertainty looms
Along the journey you choose
Along the shores, rocks
And abandoned docks
A heron walks
Don’t disturb the fish
40×30 on linen canvas
Hearts are broken
The constitution lives
States have survived
For free are the people
Who are governed by God
And not by men
For blessed is a nation
With liberty and justice
The song of the wind
Cypress trees dancing
Spring water is rising
Flowers are blooming
Deep in the forest
Where the cypress tree lives
Protecting the future of our children and grandchildren has encouraged the political involvement of mothers across the United States of America. Fog hangs over the sleepy town of Carabelle in the early in the morning. Sail boats swaying against the slow moving currents in the marina. Thunderhead clouds beginning to form as the fog retreats into the sky.
Falling Waters State Park hosts Legends and Lore once a year. This was the reenactment of the shoot out at the Broken Horn Saloon. Including a Bar maid, Sheriff, Undertaker, Jail and gunmen. Keeping the peace meant a lot of gunfire and business for the undertaker. A reminder that gun rights are to protect against unlawfulness. The second amendment in the US constitution. The people have the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, for a well regulated militia being necessary for the security of a free state.
When the wind starts to blow and the sky darkens in only minutes the rain starts to fall in bucketfuls out of the sky. It’s better to be prepared so you are not caught out in the rain. The lightening is soon to follow so find a quick spot to take shelter. Wash away your sorrows in the rain was appropriate sentiment for that morning.
It was a hot summer morning behind a seafood restaurant on the bay. Old wood row boats had been pulled ashore taking you back to another time and place. The sandy shore was filled with wild flowers and green grasses, the morning sky created beautiful reflections on the bay. The perfect shading spot to paint was next to some old crab traps beside the restaurant.
Capturing a summer Florida storm that last only minutes. The day started as a hot 90 degree day on the beach. The rain could be seen in the distance over the gulf of Mexico. The wind picked up, then the rain moved ashore. The wind blew the rain sideways and the temperature dropped quickly, then it felt like 68 degrees. Refreshingly cool but almost cold at times, but not to worry for as soon as the rain subsided so the temperature returned to a usual summer day in Florida.
A familiar scene should be easy to capture on canvas. However past memories of this scene made it more challenging to paint. This was a lesson about embracing the moment and not getting bogged down by the details. As are most relationships in life.
Don’t be in such a rush as to pass by some amazing sites along the road. Even those well traveled
The hardest working men in the shipyard. Sanding, scraping, painting to restore and protect the ships for the up coming season. Large boats on land an unusual view to most people. I felt right at home painting this old ship.
Seashore gentle breezes on a warm winter day
Renews and energizes your soul
Experience the outdoors
Doing what you love, now that is invigorating
Springs in Florida and a reminder of what is coming soon. Cypress trees coming out of the springs are an incredible site to behold. Giant trees with new growth coming out of beautiful blue green water.
Art is connecting a moment in time along the path we travel. It is the language through which artists communicate ideas. Through artistic expression everyone shares their passion for life
Worship the birth of the savior for mankind and a hope for redemption in an imperfect world. God’s way to guide us to ever lasting life.
