Misty Morning

Fog hangs over the sleepy town of Carabelle in the early in the morning. Sail boats swaying against the slow moving currents in the marina. Thunderhead clouds beginning to form as the fog retreats into the sky.

Wild Wild West

Falling Waters State Park hosts Legends and Lore once a year. This was the reenactment of the shoot out at the Broken Horn Saloon. Including a Bar maid, Sheriff, Undertaker, Jail and gunmen. Keeping the peace meant a lot of gunfire and business for the undertaker. A reminder that gun rights are to protect against unlawfulness. The second amendment in the US constitution. The people have the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, for a well regulated militia being necessary for the security of a free state.

Wash Away your Sorrows

When the wind starts to blow and the sky darkens  in only minutes the rain starts to fall in bucketfuls out of the sky. It’s better to be prepared so you are not caught out in the rain. The lightening is soon to follow so find a quick spot to take shelter. Wash away your sorrows in the rain was appropriate sentiment for that morning.

Finding Shade

It was a hot summer morning behind a seafood restaurant on the bay. Old wood row boats had been pulled ashore taking you back to another time and place. The sandy shore was filled with wild flowers and green grasses, the morning sky created beautiful reflections on the bay. The perfect shading spot to paint was next to some old crab traps beside the restaurant.

Some Like It Hot, Some Like It Cold

Capturing a summer Florida storm that last only minutes. The day started as a hot 90 degree day on the beach. The rain could be seen in the distance over the gulf of Mexico. The wind picked up, then the rain moved ashore. The wind blew the rain sideways and the temperature dropped quickly, then it felt like 68 degrees. Refreshingly cool but almost cold at times, but not to worry for as soon as the rain subsided so the temperature returned to a usual summer day in Florida.

Swift creek

A familiar scene should be easy to capture on canvas. However past memories of this scene made it more challenging to paint. This was a lesson about embracing the moment and not getting bogged down by the details. As are most relationships in life.

Working, Working , Working the Shipyard

The hardest working men in the shipyard. Sanding, scraping, painting to restore and protect the ships for the up coming season. Large boats on land an unusual view to most people. I felt right at home painting this old ship.

It is great to paint a beautiful picture. But better yet to experience a great moment while painting that scene. And for those who would like to know what created that great moment, then buy the painting. Then you will  experience what the artist sees. That is the definition of a great art.
